Kurri Kurri Project’s “Start Right” campaign: Fostering alignment and collaboration

On September 14th, the “Start Right” campaign for the Kurri Kurri Project came to a close. This initiative was meticulously designed to align the values and expectations of both Spiecapag and its client’s, APA Group, from the very inception of the project, establishing a collaborative and cohesive team environment.

During this campaign, team members from both entities were regularly invited to introduce themselves, elaborate on their roles, share their values, and provide a high-level overview of recent incidents, thereby fostering a deeper understanding and connection within the team.

To promote cross-departmental interaction, weekly walkthroughs were conducted at active work fronts. APA and Spiecapag personnel were strategically paired together. For example, the SCA Commercial Manager might be paired with the APA Engineer. These walkthroughs not only showcased a strong partnership to the crews but also fostered new coworker friendships.

Demonstrating our commitment to community engagement and team building, a collaborative exercise was organised at OzHarvest in Newcastle. Both APA and Spiecapag teams united to prepare 100 meals for those in need. This three-hour exercise temporarily shifted participants from their daily roles to collaborate in the kitchen, working towards a common goal. This event not only strengthened connections among our personnel but also positively impacted the local community.

The campaign successfully achieved its goal of aligning values and expectations from the project’s outset. Strong working relationships have been established, and there is a palpable sense of collaborative effort and unity as the team works towards common objectives.
