NRW 2026 | Walking the Path of Reconciliation Together!

Spiecapag was proud to kick off National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2026 by hosting a breakfast event in partnership with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF) and McCullough Robertson, bringing together colleagues, clients, suppliers, and community stakeholders.

The event provided an opportunity to come together, reflect on our shared history, and explore the role each of us plays in advancing reconciliation. It reinforced the importance of building strong, respectful relationships across industry and community.

Inspiring stories of leadership and impact

The highlight of the morning was hearing from Robert de Castella AO MBE and Charlie Maher from the Indigenous Marathon Foundation.

From its beginnings in 2010 with a small group of runners, the IMF programs have grown and spread across Country – supporting hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants. Beyond health and wellbeing outcomes, the program plays a vital role in developing leadership and creating opportunities across communities.

Charlie Maher, a proud Western Arrernte man and member of the first Indigenous Marathon Project cohort, shared his journey from completing its first marathon to being the world’s six major marathons, and – most importantly – to supporting the next generation as a leader within the organisation. His story highlighted the lasting impact of the program and the power of mentorship and community.

Continuing the RAP journey

The event also marked an important moment in Spiecapag’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) journey, reinforcing the company’s commitment to strengthening relationships, deepening cultural understanding, and acting as an active ally.

As part of this initiative, Spiecapag is also supporting the work of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation through a fundraising campaign, with the company matching donations dollar for dollar—further contributing to lasting, positive impact in communities.
