Our Commitment to Community Engagement & Reconciliation

At Spiecapag, we believe that meaningful engagement with communities is essential to delivering infrastructure projects that leave a lasting, positive legacy. We are committed to building respectful relationships, supporting local development, and contributing to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Community Engagement

Our operations often take place within or near communities, homes, and businesses. We recognise the importance of minimising disruption, earning trust, and fostering collaboration. Our approach to community engagement is guided by:

  • Respectful and transparent communication with landholders, stakeholders, and local authorities.
  • Active involvement in cultural heritage and environmental matters, tailored to each project’s context.
  • Supporting local employment, training, and economic development opportunities.
  • Promoting safety and wellbeing for all community members impacted by our work.

We apply internationally recognised principles of accountability, ethical behaviour, and respect for human rights, in line with ISO 26000 standards. Our goal is to maximise positive social impact and ensure our projects contribute to community prosperity.

Our Reconciliation Journey

As a company building pipelines that traverse diverse landscapes, we recognise the deep cultural significance of these lands and commit to working in ways that respect heritage, protect environments, and create meaningful opportunities for First Nations peoples. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we strive to foster relationships built on trust, celebrate culture, and contribute to positive social and economic outcomes wherever we operate.

Spiecapag Australia is proud to be part of Reconciliation Australia’s RAP program, having launched our inaugural Reflect RAP in July 2025. This marks a significant step in our commitment to reconciliation and cultural inclusion.

Our RAP is built on the pillars of Relationships, Respect, and Opportunities, and includes:

  • Cultural awareness training for all staff, embedded in our onboarding process.
  • Celebrating National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week annually.
  • Building partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.
  • Increasing employment pathways and professional development for First Nations peoples.
  • Establishing a RAP Working Group with diverse representation, including First Nations leadership.
  • Promoting cultural protocols and visibility of First Nations cultures across our offices and worksites.

We are proud of the progress made on recent projects, including direct engagement with Traditional Owner groups and partnerships with Indigenous-owned suppliers. Our efforts are guided by strong governance, transparent reporting, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Reconciliation is a shared journey. At Spiecapag, we are dedicated to learning, listening, and acting, ensuring our business contributes meaningfully to a more inclusive and equitable future.
