Boots on the ground at Waratah Bay - getting site-ready

Things are starting to take shape at Sandy Point in South Gippsland (Victoria), with Spiecapag team joining Marinus Link and TasVic GreenLink (TVGL) for a site visit to kick off preparations for upcoming works.

This is where our HDI Lucas team will use trenchless technology to drill beneath the Waratah Bay Beach dunes, enabling offshore cables to connect to Victoria with minimal environmental impact.

The visit focused on checking out the access road and future stringing area – key zones which will be used to reach the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) pad and support welding activities for the casing installation.

Behind the scenes, the team also carried out service locating works to ensure all underground utilities are clearly identified ahead of survey and construction activities.

While still early days, these boots-on-the-ground moments help set the foundation – ensuring safe access, reducing risk, and positioning the project for a smooth start to construction.
