Marinus Link | 130T Tensioner Successfully Completes Factory Acceptance Testing
A significant milestone has been achieved for the Marinus Link HDD Project, with the project’s 130-tonne tensioner successfully completing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the Netherlands.
Purpose-built for the project by Rick Reamers, the tensioner will play a critical role in the installation of the DN400 steel casing within the HDD bores for the Victoria shore crossing works. Commonly known as a Pipe-Pusher, this specialised piece of equipment is used to grip, guide, and push the casing pipes using a continuous, electrically controlled drive to ensure smooth movement through the bore while minimising stress on the pipe. This level of control helps protect the integrity of the casing and supports safe, efficient installation.
Next steps
The successful FAT confirmed the equipment’s performance and quality requirements, providing confidence that the tensioner is ready to support upcoming construction activities. The equipment, including the tensioner, power pack and support frame, has departed Rotterdam and is expected to arrive in the Port of Brisbane late September.
This achievement marks another important step towards project readiness as the team progresses the delivery of one of Australia’s most significant energy infrastructure projects.
