Marinus Link HDD Shore Crossing Project: Investigating Ground Conditions at Waratah Bay

As part of the Marinus Link HDD Shore Crossing project, the Spiecapag-HDI Lucas team, supported by Tetra Tech Coffey, recently completed a comprehensive soil and groundwater investigation program at Waratah Bay, Victoria.

Environment-first plans

Over a two-week period, the team installed monitoring bores and collected soil and groundwater samples, generating valuable data to support the development of key environmental plans, including the following:

  • Acid Sulfate Soils Management Plan
  • Contaminated Land Management Plan
  • Groundwater Management Plan

These investigations are an important step ahead of the planned Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) works, helping the project team better understand site conditions and supporting safe, responsible and environmentally conscious construction activities.

A great example of collaboration between environmental and geotechnical specialists, supporting sustainable infrastructure delivery and project success.
